Do we think the life expectancy of laptops is shortening? Personally I don't think so. Tablets are great, but as yet cant match the performance of a Laptop, but that's not to say the technology isn't here...I'm pretty sure it is but like most companies, the tablet manufacturers are not laying all of their cards on the table at once. But I think much of the reason they will hold their own for a good time yet is purely ergonomics (size, shape, how it accommodates the hands etc). People like something substantial to hold...and there is the matter of the optical drive missing (although I don't think these will be far away on tablets, when a new framework is developed to be able to install Android programs - or a new O/S is created - or if the manufacturers all go over to Windows)....anyone else have any views?? www.onsite-computers.co.uk Laptop chargers £4.99 Windows password removal Antivirus

I do have to agree with you on this point - you now see m$ making things like the surface tablet convertible but nothing will replace the usability of a good laptop or desktop and now even though they are getting smaller, thinner, and lighter they imho will always be around - or so we should hope at least that m$ does not stop producing win os for it is job security for most every pc repair shop in existence ....just my 2 cents worth
